10 Lighting Tricks Interior Designers Use To Create Atmosphere
LET THERE BE LIGHT!
Lighting within an interior space is one of the most fundamental sources of what makes the space. Light sets the ambience, mood and has a direct impact on your mental well-being. A poorly lit space can really have a negative impact, so it pays to make sure you have the correct lighting within your interior space.
Natural light exposure is so significant to feel energised, maintain a positive mood and good for your overall well-being. Spaces with low natural light exposure should introduce furniture and accessories with light-reflecting surfaces. Simple tricks include adding a mirror opposite a window to reflect and add additional light. Glass accessories have the benefit of being sustainable and contain natural light-reflective properties. Mood lighting is also key dim (dimmer switches are a Designers best friend) dim-lighting can aid relaxation whilst enhancing mood and promote a ‘feel good’ environment.
If you are lucky enough to have an interior space filled with natural light in abundance, we envy you, and making the most of this spectacular gift of nature is a must!
Speaking from experience, the most successful interior projects always lend themselves to the part that light plays in the overall design concept, with the aim being to create different levels of lighting in spaces. A space is incomplete without lighting, it is the magic key in achieving the maximum potential of an interior space, not just from an aesthetic perspective and in the character of the room but from the experience the user has in the interior space.
